Mid Week Check In

1/2 a pound is good and so is 2 pounds!! I am not weighing myself as I really just want to feel better in my clothes. I'm still not doing all that well in the food dept -- I can't seem to stop myself -- I love processed choc foods. Yesterday (Mon) I did both my 45 min spinning class and hour pole dancing (pretty sure I sprained a rib but that's another story) and I was good all day with food -- I had a 100 calorie bagel with peanut butter, a banana, some left over Annie's mac & chz with broccoli, and 1/2 an apple but then I stopped a Dunkin Donuts for dinner and got a veggie flatbread sandwhich (280 calories), hashbrowns (200 calories) and while I asked for 4 choc munchkins, I got 8 so I ate all 8 at 624 total calories. Ouch. I still think I only had like 1800 calories for the day but not healthy ones that's for sure. I'm not actually sure how many calories I should be eating per day. How do you figure that out?? Today I ran for 2.5 miles and have done pretty well with food. I'm going to eat some M&Ms now but only 1/2 a bag. :-)

  1. yay Emily on the 2 pounds!

Suz, you make me laugh! Do you really think you sprained a rib?? Sheesh!! You're crazy. How were those M&M's? Were you able to eat only half the bag?

Yesterday I did a strength training class & it kicked my ass! It must speed up your metabolism like you said Suz because I was hungry all day! We did pushups and I really hurt my back - Gee, do you think I was doing them wrong?? I'm using a heating pad today. I'm sore all over. This sucks. But I'm proud of myself all at the same time. :)
Today I was up at 4 am (seriously) & had my normal omelette & then had a "protein snack" from Starbucks - 1 hard boiled egg, 1 tblsp of peanut butter, 5 grapes, 2 slices of apple. I was starving after work at 2:30 pm so I grabbed this on my way home. I had a chicken breast when I finally got home w/red bell pepper. A few hours later after my nap was 2 hot dogs & another red bell pepper. I had a handful of almonds & some cheese for a snack.
Gym tomorrow before work in the morning - but low impact. No push ups!!
I am so not a morning person. I have another breakfast to work Thursday. ew.

  2. To calculate how many calories you should be eating, depending on whether or not you want to lose weight is take your goal weight and times it by 10. So if your goal weight is 130, your caloric intake should be 1300/day. Then flex up or down depending on exercise.

I went home sick from work today so I'm skipping the gym too. I'm downing vitamin C like there's no tomorrow. I'll try and go to the gym tomorrow even if I'm not feeling better. I made a fruit smoothie this morning with pineapple, strawberries and raspberry juice and a little yogurt. Other than a handful of saltines, it's all I've had today...

  3. Ok, there's no way I can survive on 1050 calories a day. I think whoever said that is a bullemic fashion model. Seriously.

Sorry you're not feeling well, Em. Being sick sucks and it doesn't help to stay motivated.

I went to Zumba today and we were informed it was the last class so that's a bummer as it was a fun way to get some exercise. Now I gotta find something else for Wednesdays . . .

  4. Ok, I went to: http://nutrition.about.com/library/bl_nutrition_guide.htm
and it had me put in my weight, height, goal weight and age and came up with this:

You need 1684.8 calories per day to maintain your current weight without exercise

If you exercise for 30 minutes each day, you will be able to reach your goal weight with 1854.7 calories per day.

Now these are numbers I can live with!

  5. uh oh Emily! Are you okay? I hope you are feeling better.

I agree, Suz. Much better numbers than I though!

I woke up this morning with hives on the right side of my face, my neck, and on my arms. WTF?? I don't know why. I stripped my bedding and threw it all in hot water to wash. I scanned my mattress - nothing. It is lobster month at my job...so it may be a reaction to that. I don't know. I refused to go to the gym - I look like an alien without makeup so I got ready for work instead. thank God for makeup!
Normal eating day for me - same old same old - I'm pretty boring...!
The hardest thing for me to cut out was soda. I cut out all artifical sweeteners & snacking on foods if I'm not hungry.
No gym tomorrow...up at 4:30 am again...back at it Friday! I hope these hives go down...

  6. My doc put me on predisone for two weeks to get rid of the hives (yes it was an allergic reation to the lobster). It's working already, but if I gain weight because of this I am gonna be PISSED. Just sayin.

  7. L: You probably will but know that it's temporary. At least you can go out in public.

    Bummer.
